World: Recently, many questions were raised about the future of a global exhibition for the Frankfurt International Lighting and Sound Fair (PL+S). The rise of European competitions and the staggering of the PL+S and Musicikesse opening times have caused a lot of dissatisfaction in the voice industry. In spite of this, there is still a major factor indicating that it is an important event - product release.

Despite various issues at the show, it is still seen as the best place to launch new products in the live performance industry in Europe. Manufacturers adjust the development cycle to ensure that the veil of the latest product can be unveiled in Frankfurt.
If you say that the first day of last year was constantly talking about who did not come to the show - whether it was an exhibitor or an audience - this year it seems that most of what was said was something at the show. The audio-oriented Hall 3.1 ushered in a compelling returnee, HK Audio. As an important member of a German company that did not participate in the 2017 event, this year ushered in a grand return and allegedly brought “the biggest product release in history”, including the Cosmo line array and the Contour X flagship sound source PA series.
d&b audiotechnik is also one of the German manufacturers to launch new products. They used the PL+S to release the GSL system, a large line array that is positioned higher than the J, Y, and V series. Other new line arrays are Vio L212 from dBTechnologies, Versarry Pro from Crest Audio, and e-class from Vue. Alcons Audio's LR28 is used by PRG in its technical display at Festhalle. Other new speaker products announced include Adamson’s IS7P and IS10P point source loudspeakers, FBT Horizon and K-array’s Event product lines, Adam Hall’s different product lines including LD Systems, Cameo and Palmer. At the same time, Outline Audio's Superfly compact line source system was described by the Italian manufacturer as a speaker of the same size "set new performance standards."

Another important product launch came from Yamaha, who released new flagship speakers at booths shared with Nexo, the active DZR and DXS-XLF and the passive versions CZR and CXS-XLF. New products on the shared booth include the NXAMP 4x2 and 4x1 Mk2 amplifiers from Yamaha's Rivage PM7 and Nexo.
Subwoofer releases include Funktion-One's new F124 subwoofer, Coda Audio's U-series multipurpose subwoofer, and Next-proaudio's LAs418A active reflective subwoofer.
In addition to the speakers, there are many new speaker units. Powersoft highlighted its M-Force and Faital exhibited three new models. Celestion has added two new members to its CF series.

Audio interface exhibitors like Steinberg and RME. L-Acoustics showed its advanced tools Soundvision and LA Network Manager.
For audio control, Cadac celebrated its 50th anniversary and introduced two new mixers, CDC five and CDC seven-s. At the same time, DiGiCo has expanded its audio processing with Quantum 7 on its SD7 console, Stage Tec has a new software release to enhance its Aurus and Crescendo console functions, and Avid focuses on the expanded S6L tuning station.

Most of the dissatisfaction with the exhibition in recent years has come from audio halls, but the lighthouses downstairs have exactly the opposite views. For lighting, PL+S is still the best show in Europe, and several major releases have once again strengthened this position.
One of the major highlights was the world premiere of MA Lighting's grandMA3 console, which was described by manufacturers as "a breakthrough concept from the industry's top visionary." In addition, visitors will find numerous new lighting products such as Altman, Ayrton, ChamSys, Chauvet, Chroma-Q, Elation, ETC, GLP, LSC, MDG, Robe and Robert Juliat.
Video makers have also unleashed a series of new and improved products for the entertainment technology industry as a new market. Like ArKaos, AV Stumpfl, Avolites, BlackTrax and Roe are eager to get the attention of exhibitors.
The release of many new products in the pavilion can be seen as a vote of confidence in the show, but it also brings pressure. The release time of manufacturers' products has provided a solid backing for PL+S, and it is now up to the organizers to provide these products with the higher level and more international visitor flow they deserve.
